So, once a week or once a fortnight Mark and I head off to the movies. We absolutely love it! We always spend a little extra and sit in the recliner section because it is such an amazing experience. We were at the movies last week watching The Avengers and I thought about how the movie cinema’s have nailed marketing.
Lets Take A Look At How The Movie Industry Market…
You’re sitting at home watching Master Chef and within 1 hour you have seen between 5 – 15 commercials advertising the latest block buster movie. They use the best clips from the movie, the best lines and still manage to leave you wanting more. They tell you when it will be playing in the cinema and you instantly know that your life will be dull unless you see the movie. Why? Because that is what they wanted you to believe from great copywriting, visuals and in some cases they show testimonials of people leaving the cinema after watching the movie.
When the movie comes out at the cinema you feel eager and excited to go watch it. You arrive at the cinema (hopefully with a hottie on your arm) and as you’re walking to purchase your ticket you see posters advertising other movies that are being played, GENIUS!
The posters are marketed towards their target audience, for example, the target audience for the movie Cinderella are females. The females are romantics, love Disney films and happy endings. So, they create a poster that has a beautiful blonde girl in a gorgeous blue gown.
There is a handsome man in the picture and the writing on the poster is magical, the words Cinderella are written in romantic gold writing. Some of the posters have images of Cinderella and her Prince on their wedding day. All in all it pulls at the heart-strings of every girl whether she is 5 years old or 50 years old.
Relate it to your Business…
+ When you put something out into the world, go hard. Send your networks a package or an email asking them to promote your program, website or product out in front of their followers.
+ Create hype prior to you putting your art out into the world. Start with Facebook ads, let your tribe know all the stages of development, post beautiful images on Instagram and Pinterest. Give your tribe a countdown and let them know that they will be the first to hear when it goes live, offer them a limited time discount.
+ Create beautiful giveaways. The Female Entrepreneur Association is about to launch their membership site that has been revamped. Each week prior to the membership site going live they are giving away a 6 month membership to one person. They announce it and create even more traffic to their website with curious women wondering what the membership site is.
+ LISTEN UP! If you hear crickets, don’t quit KEEP on KEEPING ON! During several of my launches I have had people purchase my e-courses within seconds of enrolments closing. Keep striving and continue pushing hard to get yourself over the finish line.
+ Believe in yourself! If you don’t believe in your art (product, program, service) then people will see that and there is no way in hell they are going to put their money towards someone who looks doubtful. Just like in the movies, they get the best actors, create a magical story line and from there they fully believe and know that it will be a BlockBuster. Create beautiful art and be proud of yourself. Believe that your art will change someone’s life!
