My greatest career adventures have happened as a result of keeping my secrets safe with me! Have you had an incredible business idea and when you started telling people, they told you all the many ways that it will not be successful and as a result you buried the dream?
This time last year I was travelling through Europe with my beloved Mark. We splashed out on our last night in Paris and stayed at the perfect Shangri-La. We had a stunning duplex room with gorgeous views of the Eiffel Tower and a bed that I am certain was 2 king size beds blended into one dream bed. For breakfast we had freshly squeezed strawberry juice and the most incredible eggs I have ever tasted!
The service was faultless and the entire experience lead us thinking about where we wanted our life to head. We discussed what jobs we would have in order to stay at the Shangri-La each time we visited Paris. The term residual income came up a lot and Mark introduced me to this idea when we first started dating.
Residual income means working on one thing once and being continuously paid for it. For example, writing a book, you will only write a book once, yet you will continuously be paid for it.
We discussed the business ventures we could take in order to create a life where we were not separated from each other for 10-15 hours each day. We wanted financial freedom and location freedom.
I cannot say that my business idea came to me in a form of an angel whispering in my ear, but there were definite signs that a higher source was involved. I played around with the idea of opening a cafe/restaurant and becoming a fashion designer. Both careers I was passionate about, but the spark never stayed with me long enough. I didn’t like the idea of working long hours and putting exuberant amounts of money towards the business to get it running.
I needed to remain focussed on ‘Residual Income’ and include what I was most passionate about, which lead me into the Life Coaching business. I knew that I could bring my Psychology skills and my own experience to the party with this idea. The more I delved into the idea, the more I wanted it!
As the idea began to flourish incredible courses fell into my lap, books fell off the shelf, certain spiritual leaders came out of the woodworks. Everything fell into place for me. The journey was not incredibly easy to say the least. Spending nights and early mornings creating my website stretched my mind to a different level.
There has been many sacrifices along the way and I had no idea how all this would come together. I just knew it would and I knew the sacrifices would pay off. I launched the Bloom For Love program 2 weeks ago and the response from participants has left me speechless. To know that I am helping women achieve greatness in their life, end pain in their world and help them to fall in love with a wonderful partner makes my soul come alive!
I have women emailing me telling me about their breakthroughs and how their lives are changing in incredible ways! This has made the sacrifices worth it!
Take a Chance on Yourself!
I guess I am writing this today because I want you to take a chance on yourself! I want you to jump into as many dreams as you possibly had as a child, test them out, see if it is a fit for you and if it isn’t change your dream. We are gifted with having so many opportunities so take them!
My greatest advice for you would be this: Do not reveal your dreams to people who will tell you all the ways you will not achieve it! I applied to study Vet Science at Sydney University in my adult life and I told one person prior to applying. That one person lifted my dream up and she made me believe that I was more than capable. Once I was accepted I told the world and danced everyday about the idea of becoming a Vet (my life long dream). If I had told certain people, they would have told me that the idea was outrageous.
Realise that other people have their own negative thought patterns and self doubt. If they think they are not capable then they will believe you are not capable.
Although I always wanted to be a Vet, weeks into the course I realised that my passion and love for animals was not enough to handle seeing them in pain and me being forced to do whatever it takes to help them.
No Regrets! No ‘What If’s’!
What a beautiful time I will have when I am an old lady, thinking about all the many dreams that I attempted. I will never wonder and I will no longer have to say, “What if?”. Dream big and jump, you will always make your wings on the way down, or someone will help you.
Be wise about who you tell your most treasured and passionate dreams to because everyone has their own self doubt and fears. When you reveal information to someone, make sure they are the people who have big dreams and have conquered great things because they will be the one’s telling you that you will succeed because they have succeeded.
What dream have you put off due to self doubt and fear? What small step can you take this week to start walking down the path with the dreamers?
