This weekend is a full moon and I have heard of rituals being done under the full moon to symbolise new beginnings by releasing the past.
I have reached a place in place in my life where I analyse and monitor all the thoughts, people and things in my life that no longer serve me. I choose to surround myself with friends that love me, support me and encourage me. Without them, I would not be who I am today and I probably would not have launched my new career.
The thoughts that I think are loving, kind and I have become my own best friend because of them. My mind feels safe and therefore my outside world feels safe.
So, I would really like to break down these few topics so that you too can begin making the transformations into the person who you want to be and you will achieve all your dreams from this place.
As the full moon approaches I will be focussing on cleansing and detoxifying certain areas of my life so that I can feel rejuvenated and renewed. I will be de-cluttering the rooms that are filled with junk. I will be cleaning out my wardrobe and donating my old clothes to charity. I will also be spending a lot of time in meditation and cleaning the thoughts that are hindering me.
Let me break down why it is so important to monitor your thoughts, dismiss negative people from your life and make the space around you tidy, de-cluttered and pretty.
When I was first introduced to the concept of my thoughts shaping my world and my experiences I was a little distressed. It was hard to believe that all the experiences, people and how my life currently was, was a cause and reaction to my thoughts.
At first I did not want to believe it, however, when I really looked deeper I realised that, yes, absolutely! I could link my thoughts to my experiences and how my life was. Of course that was the day that I started changing my thoughts and being really conscious of what I was thinking.
When I became conscious of my thoughts I realised just how limiting and fearful they were. My mind felt unsafe and I knew that I could not reach my full potential and have a beautiful life with the thoughts I was carrying around with me.
I am not going to lie, it was challenging at first. Training your mind to think in a different way can be tiring. Here is an analogy for you, your mind is like a filing cabinet and there are little men working inside your mind. They store each thought in the appropriate filing cabinet. At the moment your filing cabinets may be titled ‘fear thoughts’ ‘self hatred thoughts’ and ‘judgemental thoughts’. However, when you start changing your thoughts to loving, kind and safe thoughts the workers in your mind begin to panic. There are no filing cabinets for those types of thoughts and at times they get thrown away. It is your job to continue thinking those loving, kind and safe thoughts so that over time new filing cabinets are made. It does take time, however, soon the old filing cabinets of ‘self hatred,‘judgemental thoughts’ and fearful thoughts’ will begin to collect dust.
You can start by saying, ‘I love and approve of myself just as I am’ or ‘The universe always looks after me, I am always safe’ or maybe ‘I am loveable because I exist’. Begin repeating these loving thoughts to yourself throughout the entire day and see how your day will be brighter and how you feel in your body.
Dismiss the negative people:
There is a saying that you become on average the 5 people that you hang out with. However, I believe that if there is one bad seed amongst your friends or family, it can unhinge you and keep you squashed. Everyone has a story about a friend that hurts them, is negative towards them, doesn’t celebrate your winnings, only when you are losing, puts you down in front of others or generally doesn’t accept you. Whatever it is, realise that these friends will not lift you up to your highest form and if they are not celebrating you then it is hard for you to celebrate yourself.
There are people in this world who can be incredibly negative, they can drain the people around them with their constant complaining.
There are people who can be judgmental of others and find it enjoyable to gossip and make fun of people behind their backs. This is not a pleasant trait to be around and says that the individual is insecure about themselves. I can almost hear my mum saying, “If they are talking about other people, they are talking about you”.
I make it a habit not to gossip, because I do not want people to gossip about me. Gossiping can be addictive and also enjoyable, however, spend your time speaking about friends in an encouraging way, praising them to others, complimenting them, finding the special things about them and talking about those qualities instead. This positive talk about your friends and family will make your relationship stronger because you will choose to see their greatness and not their weakness. After the conversation has ended you will feel so radiant and good about yourself where gossiping leaves you feeling depleted and negative.
If you want to have a wonderful life that is filled with all your desires then you need to surround yourself with people that will lift you higher. If you are on the spiritual path then find friends that share the same interests, don’t spend time with people that laugh at the idea of meditation. Be around the friends that cheer you on from the sidelines, that remind you of your magnificence when you have self doubt. Because at the end of the day, your friends do contribute to which direction you are heading in life.
All the pretty things:
What does your external environment say about you? Does it say that you are disorganised? Unhappy? Maybe it says you are joyful and love pretty things?
You are in control of your world and de-cluttering and making the space around you clean, tidy and beautiful will create a sense of peace and clarity in your mind.
De-cluttering allows the natural flow of good energy into your space. When there is clutter and untidiness there is a disjointed flow of energy and the energy is usually negative.
Throughout the week I make sure that my home is clean and tidy, I open the windows to let clean energy flow into the rooms. Every Friday I love cleaning my home. I clean the entire house, I vacuum, mop floors, do the washing and ironing and light candles. I wash the sheets so they are fresh. Sometimes I even place a couple of drops of lavender in the spin cycle so the sheets smell of lavender (great for relaxation). There is nothing better than sliding into your bed when you have clean sheets that smell lovely. A friend of mine even hangs out her doona and pillows on the line so the sun can cleanse and freshen her bedding.
For me, I cannot work in an untidy environment, so I need to clean my surroundings before I can produce great work. It goes even further for me, I love being surrounded by bright, pretty things. So my work desk is colourful and I have a beautiful thriving orchard near my desk. Sometimes I light a candle prior to working which makes me feel incredibly calm.
I love making my bed in the morning so that each time I walk into my room it looks clean and beautifully made. I love plants, so I keep plants healthy and alive throughout my home and I occasionally have fresh roses form the garden throughout my home.
Of a night time I love love love lighting candles around the home and putting calming relaxing music. The environment is relaxing and I am able to unwind from my day and have peaceful thoughts prior to sleep.
I encourage you to regularly clean your workspace and your home. Make is your sanctuary for clear thoughts, peace and solitude. Your work will be more productive and you will really enjoy yourself at home in a beautiful environment and you will be able to draw more beauty into your life.
If you have been thinking that you are ready for positive change and you want to start heading in the direction of becoming the best version of yourself then begin making changes.
What changes do you need to make in your life now for brighter more fabulous opportunities to come into form? What thoughts are not serving you?
Below I have written out a full moon ritual if you would like to do this. It can be a powerful act to demonstrate that you are ready for change and growth. You do not have to wait for the full moon, you can simply complete the growth work below.
The Full Moon Ritual:
Begin by meditating, if you have never meditated before that is okay. Play calming music in the back ground. What you can do is sit comfortably either on a chair or on the floor. Close your eyes and begin focussing on your breathing. When someone says ‘focus on your breath’ it means to breath deeply and channel all your thoughts on breathing and relaxing and this will limit any other thoughts that come to mind. Breath in deeply and exhale deeply. Do this for about 5 minutes, or longer if you wish?
Light a candle and reflect on what changes you need to make in your life to allow more positivity to flow into your life. Is there a friend that you need to limit time with and slowly take them out of your life completely? Do you need to limit time with a certain family member and only see them occasionally?
What thoughts have you be carrying around with you that are limiting you and creating fear in your mind?
I want you to write down all the limiting thoughts that are holding you back from living a fulfilling and vibrant life. Write down the actions you need to take in order to have a fulfilling life that is filled with positive energy, love and peace.
Light a fire and burn the notes you made. Seeing the flames go into the atmosphere symbolises letting go and being free. So really saviour that moment and enjoy it.
Spend your time and energy replacing unloving thoughts with loving thoughts and begin making the necessary changes in your life.
